Artist Statement
My art practice is a playful, often abstract exploration of self and identity through a variety of mediums like collage, printmaking, and ceramics. Creating with my hands helps me silence the mind at the same time as it brings out interior landscapes of feelings and memories that refuse to be expressed in words. My background in design influences my choices in composition and balance and my work has tactile qualities that make a nod to Matisse.
I like repurposing materials that have inherent stories embedded in them. I am captivated by the resulting synergies when material and stories are combined in unpredictable ways.
